Week 11

Adelyn has had a great week! There's not too much to report. We're still working on the head/neck control! Adelyn will hold her head up when she wants to, but she still falls forward a lot. She is loving using those legs! She's getting stronger and stronger. She's really into spit and bubbles. She is starting to drool a lot. Soon, she'll have to wear a bib 24/7.
Seth had a race in Joliet, IL. Unfortunately, he had some mechanical problems and was unable to finish. He's 4th in points and we're proud of him! I miss going to the races!! Adelyn and I went to Spartanburg and Greenville while he was gone.

She doesn't look thrilled to wear the bonnet, but she sure did look cute! ;)

Adelyn in the bumbo seat- bright blues!

Adelyn LOVES Randy! We'll miss her when she moves to Spain in August!

We spent Friday night with Laura and Mel in Spartanburg. Here we are in downtown Greenville having dinner. Janie and Adelyn are 2 weeks apart.

Week 10

Adelyn is really making gains on her head control! She wants to sit up because there's so much more to see now! She likes to sit in her Bumbo seat and use those neck muscles! She looks like such a big girl- I almost don't want to put her in it! She also likes to stand on your lap and look around.

We go out and about these days! I am tutoring a little girl and she comes with me to that. She just sleeps in her carseat quietly. We go run errands and she's either asleep or gazing at all the new things there are to see. She's been to church, restaurants, the gym, the movies, etc. So much to check out in this world!

She had her 2 month check up this week. She had some immunization shots. I insisted on Seth coming with me because I don't like needles! She cried, but not too bad! Infant Tylenol is a miracle worker! She weighed 13 lb 5.5 oz (92nd percentile) and is 25" long (98th percentile). Her head is 15 1/2 " long (59th percentile). She is such a looong baby! In a room of 100 girls, only 2 would be taller than her. She has grown 2" since her 1 month appointment.

First time going to an entire church service (even though she slept in the nursery)

Brenda and Melissa gave Adelyn this white and yellow linen gown at one of my baby showers

Week 9

Each day, Adelyn seems more and more alert! She still sleeps the bulk of the day, but her wake times are filled with her "talking" to us, smiling, or just looking around. This is not to say that she doesn't have wake times filled with crying! When she gets really worked up, she gets SO very sweaty. She is hot natured to begin with, so she really gets those sweat glands working. Poor thing! I have had to strip her down to her diaper for her to cool down.
I've started feeding her at 9 or 9:30 pm and getting her to bed earlier. That's been nice. It gives Seth and I more of an evening together and she will still sleep until 6:30-7:00.

July 9 marked our 4 year anniversary. My mom came in town and kept Adelyn while Seth and I went out to eat. We ate at Aqua Terra in Buford. We went there for another anniversary a few years back. I love that restaurant!

Mom and I hiked Sawnee Mountain. This was Adelyn's first hike. She slept right through the beauty.

Brenda got this cute hat for Adelyn in NY. An Amish woman made it.

Nana talking to Adelyn

Seth got us a nice camera (a Canon Rebel) for our anniversary. I am really excited to have it. Ever since I had Adelyn, I've been wanting one. I think the quality is so much better! Below are the pictures we took after opening it. This is Adelyn in her bouncy seat.

Every morning before work, Seth talks to Adelyn. He won't leave until she smiles at him! She loves to sit in the cradle swing and look out the window.

Week 8

Adelyn is just a growin'! We are getting more on a "schedule". During the day, she eats every 3-4 hours and we keep her awake for an hour and a half/two hours and then put her down for a nap. This seems to be working! At night, she sleeps from 10/10:30 to 6/7:00. I can't complain!

Seth had an awesome week! He had a race at Watkins Glen. He qualified on Friday, July 3 and got the pole! This was his first pole! :) The race was Saturday, July 4 and he WON!! He led the entire race! Here is the article about his victory:

While Seth was gone, my dear friend Heather came in town. I met her in 7th grade! She flew in from Raleigh and spent the weekend with me. She was so helpful and I had a great time catching up with her.

Adelyn and Riley are becoming best buds.

Adelyn in the tub. She loves bathtime! Well, I guess she does. She doesn't cry....she just stays real calm.

Watching Seth's race online. Adelyn is cheering for her dad!

The Coin Toss- After qualifying, the driver who got the pole flips a coin. If he calls it correctly, he gets to keep his position. If he doesn't 1st trades with 5th and 2nd trades with 4th. Thank goodness Seth guessed right!

Sunday night at Papa's....he can always get her to sleep! Martha made Seth a victory cake to celebrate his win! I should have gotten a picture of it- it had a checkered flag made out of chocolate squares.

Week 7

Adelyn is smiling more, holding her head up better, and is cooing. The smiles and coos are awesome! They seem to melt the rest of the world away! Nothing makes me happier than to see her make those sweet facial expressions and noises! She is putting her feet down and using her legs when you hold her up. Everyday is a new discovery for her! She is really filling out. Her arms and legs have the cute rolls!

She is still sleeping through the night and eating well. She definitely has her fussy moments. It's usually around 6 pm. She is not sure what to do with herself. I'm trying to prepare dinner, Seth is just getting home, and she can't get comfortable. Other than that time of day, she is a happy, peaceful baby! She sleeps ALL the time- she is definitely her father's child. This girl loves her naps! Everyone says she looks like Seth....well, she acts like him too!

When she wakes up from her naps, she s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-s out. It is hilarious! When she does it, it looks like it feels so good! I find myself stretching way out when I wake up now! It's funny how a baby can teach you the important things in life!

We continue to thank God for her health, your prayers, and the guidance and help we receive from family and friends!

Happy 4th of July everyone!
